Members of the official Tottenham Hotspur supporters’ club have overwhelmingly voted Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama’s goal against Liverpool as the club’s goal of the 2017/2018 season.
Wanyama scored a rocket goal at Anfield on February 04, 2018 in the 77th minute, to level the scores 1-1 in an English Premier League match. The match ended 2-2.
Wanyama came off the bench in the second half with Spurs trailing Liverpool by a goal scored by Mohamed Salah in the third minute. The Harambee Stars Captain released a thunderbolt from 20 yards to level the scores 1-1.
Victor Wanyama’s goal also earned him the February goal of the month award in the English Premier League.
“That was one of the best goals I’ve ever scored. I just reacted before the Liverpool players. I thought I’d just let it go because the ball was bouncing and I didn’t want to think too much. And I just let it fly,” Wanyama said then after being awarded by the Premier League.
The midfield kingpin has had a season of mixed fortunes with Spurs, having missed almost four months of action after picking up a serious knee injury in August last year.
He recovered in time to help his side end the season with a 5-4 win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Spurs finished 3rd on the log with 77 points, ahead of London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal.
