Victoria and Anderson crowned   2017  Miss  and  Mr. Eldoret GK Prison

It was pomp and color during the Eldoret GK Prison annual beauty contest event held at the correctional facility, Friday.

The colorful event provided a rare opportunity for the female and male inmates to showcase their talents and fashion.

Victoria Letting and Anderson Oronji were crowned the 2017  Miss and  Mr. Eldoret GK Prison.

“I did not expect to be crowned the winner but I knew I had that special thing in me. I will use my position by helping my fellow inmates nature their talents,” said Victoria Letting after being crowned 2017 Miss GK Prison.

"I will help my fellow women inmates fight off this challenge of low self-esteem which most of us are facing," she added.

Rahab Njoki was the first runners-up while Christine Acheyo was third.

Anderson Oronji Mr. Eldoret GK Prison said he will use his position to assist inmates to refrain from using drugs.

"I thank God for giving me this post since I did not even dream about it and I will it to natural talents and also teaching my fellow prisoners on the dangers of using drugs," he said.

Sam Wekesa and Elisha Shigogo took position two and three respectively.

Officer in charge of the Eldoret G.K Women's Prisons Beatrice Were and his counterpart from the male Prison Stephen Kabiru said the annual event is meant to nurture inmates talents and increase their self-esteem.

"Our aim is to keep the prisoners busy and also help them identify their talents which also help in molding them to be good citizens," said Stephen Kabiru.

"This programme also helps to create a good relationship between us and the prisoners. We want them to feel like another Kenyan out there," added Beatrice Were.
