There has been a public outcry on social media after a video of alleged police brutality went viral.

In the video, a police officer with a gun is seen brutalising an unarmed civilian who has already surrendered. 

Other passersby look on as the policeman hits the victim's head and attempts to smash his neck with the sole of his boot. 

It is not clear what led the cop to the violence.
