A video showing Uasin Gishu county askaris and police officers brutally attacking hawkers in Eldoret town has angered Nakuru leaders.
The video shows several county askaris and a police officer in uniform clobbering a hawker as they drag him on the tarmac.
The horrific video sparked an outrage online.
Nakuru leaders, led by Governor Lee Kinyanjui accused his Uasin Gishu counterpart Jackson Mandago of ethnic profiling in the fight against hawkers.
Most of the hawkers attacked are believed to be from Mt Kenya, the leaders said.
"I will talk to Mandago today, you cannot do that to other people. If we are at peace with your people here, you must also do the same to our people there," Kinyanjui said.
The Nakuru county boss was speaking at Bahati during the homecoming ceremony of Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri.
Ngunjiri was more blunt on the issue.
"Mandago stop attacking our people, and in fact we are telling the Deputy President to intervene because Mandago is coming between us as we head to 2022. He wants to spoil it," he said.
