A video has emerged, showing NASA politician Miguna Miguna in a plane to North America.
This follows reports that the self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) had been forced to leave the country for Canada, where he once lived for more than 20 years.
After being kept in custody for five days, police produced Miguna at a Kajiado court, where he refused to take plea in treason charges. He said a judge at a Nairobi court was waiting for him.
The former independent candidate in the Nairobi gubernatorial race had been declared a free man by the Milimani court in Nairobi, but police continued holding him.
He has been critical of the government, and had at one time dared Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to arrest him for his role in administering the oath to Raila Odinga swearing-in ceremony.
