Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho has temporarily left the National Super Alliance (Nasa) for prayers.
Joho said he wants to focus on prayers this Ramadhan, which is a holly month for him as a Muslim.
In a short video to the Nasa family, the ODM deputy party leader and strong critic of the Jubilee government, said he would include the coalition and its supporters in his prayers, so as to trounce Jubilee Party, which is Nasa's major competitor.
"As you are aware that we are in the month of Ramadhan, and the last 10 days, I want to focus on prayers, as I have done for many years, so that God grants us the heart to succeed," Joho said in the video, Friday, June 16.
He further revealed that they agreed all Nasa leaders should focus on campaigning in grassroots, so as to rally wider support for the alliance.
According to Joho, he would come back to hit the ground campaigning, after Ramadhan.
