A section of youths from Nyeri County, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s stronghold, have declared support for Raila Odinga.
Raila, Nasa presidential candidate, will face off with Uhuru (Jubilee Party) come August 8.
In a video doing rounds on social media, the youths from Mukurweini, say they are die-hard fans of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader.
They say Kenya needs change of leadership, and Raila is the right person for the country’s top seat.
“I’d rather not engage in insults but one thing should remain clear, let all facts remain. We want accountability. And we want change, change for the better. That’s all we want in Kenya as a whole. That’s all we want and we are diehards of Raila Amollo Odinga,” says one of the youths in the video.
“We have declared that reality always seems stranger than fiction, and our man Raila must be supported. We have decided we will vote for Raila because we want positive change, for the better. We want a better tomorrow for our children. Secondary education must be free. Health services must be free.”
They also welcomed Raila in Uhuru’s turf.
“We want Raila to come to Mukurweini and have a roadshow. He is very welcome here. We are ready for him, he has very votes here.”
They said the opposition leader has played his role well in the past four years.
“In my opinion, Raila has done a great job. He has been like a referee in this country. He has been a good whistle blower.”
