Kisumu governor Jack Ranguma received a harsh reception in Kondele, as he sought to speak to locals.

Youth chanted "Nyong'o! Nyong'o! Nyong'o!'' slogans, as Ranguma tried to calm them down, from his vehicle, by waving at them. Watch video here.

Some youth who included boda boda operators, carried placards, as they blew whistles, blocking Ranguma's convoy, Sunday, causing heavy traffic snarl-up, at the Kondele roundabout.

The governor who lost his bid to defend the post, through an ODM party ticket to his senator Anyang' Nyong'o, later managed to get out of the crowd, and sped off.

The harsh reception seems to have been triggered after the primaries.

The primaries saw Nyong'o declared the winner by the ODM National Elections Board chairperson Judith Pareno, Saturday.

She said Nyong'o garnered 164,553 votes against Ranguma's 98,573 votes.

The first-time Kisumu's first governor however, could defend his seat as an independent candidate.
