Nairobi County Commander Japheth Koome has given an okay to protestors to picket in the streets of Nairobi.

In a video by Capital FM, Koome said that police did not have any basis to stop a protestor from going to the street to vent their frustrations.

He said that picketing is a right enshrined in the constitution and that as a police force, they did not have any basis to stop citizens from exercising it.

"Our constitution under article 37 allows any kenyan to demonstrate, to assemble, to picket but peceably and announced," he said.

He however warned demonstrators against interfering with other people's property and said they would move in to protect Kenyans from rogue demonstrators.

"Anybody attempting to destroy and damage any property, we shall move in."
