Photo: The Star.A video believed to have been uploaded by The Star has generated a heated debate among social media users, with different persons interpreting it in their context.In the video, President Uhuru Kenyatta is seen addressing a crowd that is believed to be in Kisii or Nyamira county.Over the years, tribalism has been seen as the biggest threat to the unity of Kenyans more so when the country is inching closer to a general election.The ugly face of tribalism surfaced after the 2007 general election when Kenyans turned against each other, leading to loss of over 1,000 lives, destruction of property and crumbling of the economy.

However, in the video, Uhuru explains how together with Deputy President William Ruto, they have managed to unify the country after the violence that threatened the peaceful existence of the nation."Not inciting the people, if there are communities that fought most in this country it should be the Kikuyus and the Kalenjin... thats the truth, but today the president is a Kikuyu and his deputy a Kalenjin and we have been elected by the Kalejin and Kikuyus," said Uhuru.The President reaffirmed that if it was possible for the two communities to work together after fighting so much in 2007/08 then it was possible for Kenya to heal as a nation."So what is this people say that we can't forgive each other, even God said we must forgive each other, however we must never forget, and by never forgetting that should serve as a reminder to ensure that we do not side back," he said.ClickHereToWatchVideo
