President Uhuru Kenyatta has said he is the only President of the Republic of Kenya, whether he is out of the country or not.
He was responding to the recent declaration by Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko at a funeral in Machakos County that he was the acting President, while he was in Togo.
“Don’t bother what people say at funerals, weddings…I have only in one occasion left the office of President…whether I’m in Togo, I’m still the President of Kenya,” he said on Tuesday during Anti-Corruption and Accountability Summit at State House,.
Sonko on Sunday recorded a statement with police at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters over the remark he made.
The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko had ordered IG Joseph Boinnet to investigate the flamboyant senator.
