As National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders were going around campaigning for the August 8, 2017, general elections, it was a practice that before any of their political rallies begin, they had to invite a religious leader for a word of prayer.
On this fateful day, a few days before the poll day, NASA had visited Kapsabet town, Nandi county while on their vote hunting mission and as usual they invited a pastor to pray.
Pastor Billion Ebole from Eldoret town was given the opportunity to put the rally before God’s hands and his prayer was a hilarious one.
The ‘Man of God’ ended up calling the Jubilee leaders all sorts of names including branding them thieves even as he asked God to give the NASA leadership a win in the poll.
Here is a word by word translation of the pastor’s prayer that he made in Swahili.
“Today I want to pray for the NASA leaders that God bless their government. God, the creator of Heaven and Earth, see our leaders who have arrived here. God of eternity, we pray for the NASA pentagon co-leaders that you give them the opportunity to remove these thieves who have frustrated this country until there is no offerings in church. God of eternity, remove thieves from this country. We pray for this government, this time around, they will not be so lucky to win again. God of eternity, bless the Kapsabet people, lift them up and honor them. Those people have stolen oil, they have stolen our things, they have stolen Unga (maize meal flour). They are thieves and we pray that they are sent home. God of eternity who listens to prayers, remove those thieves from this country and give the country to Raila Amolo Odinga so that he can save it. He has said he is Joshua, and the Word says that Joshua saved the Israelites and today, anoint this king so that he can remove those thieves at the front. For him to remove all the problems at the front, that he removes all corruption at the top, for him to remove all the witches and wizards at the top. They went to China but Raila has gone to Israel where the God of Israelites answers prayers. For it is in the name of Jesus that I pray and believe, say amen, say tialala.”
The prayer was widely shared on social media platforms igniting mixed reaction among Kenyans.
