On May 16, 2017, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua had one of his toughest days when he was booed by Wiper supporters in Tala, Matungulu Sub County.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader’s attempt to calm the crowd so as to address them did not bear fruits.
In the video recorded during the incident, the crowd is heard shouting Wiper instead of MCC slogan.
The second term governor seems not to give up but the crowd becomes more hostile.
Mutua was seeking to defend his post in the 2018 general election after he defected from Wiper party and formed his MCCP outfit.
The move caused tension in Ukamba after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka warned him that he will face the wrath of the voters.
“Elections are not far. You can run very fast but there will come a time when you will not be able to hide,” Kalonzo told Mutua during a press conference. Mutua, luckily, managed to retain his seat after facing stiff competition from former Kathaini MP Wavinya Ndeti.
The former lawmaker, however, insisted that the outcome of the election was not free and fair and went ahead to appeal the win. She, however, lost the petition after Mutua’s win was upheld.
