A section of leaders from Vihiga County has rubbished the secession call by National Supper Alliance (Nasa) leaders.
Led by nominated MCA Jackyne Mwenesi, they said the move will divide the country along tribal lines.
They condemned the move by Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma who drafted a bill seeking to split the country into the People’s Republic of Kenya and the Central Republic of Kenya which he tabled it in Parliament last week.
In the Bill, Kaluma wants 40 out of the 47 Counties to secede and form the People’s Republic of Kenya.
The MP says the rest of the country has been marginalised in the distribution of opportunities, services, and resources.
“Since independence Kenyans have been living together as one family and we read mischief in this Bill, that is aimed at dividing this country,” Mwenesi said.
They have called for talks between NASA leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta to end the political stalemate in the country.
“We are calling upon the two leaders to put their egos aside, sit down and resolve this political stalemate,” she said.
