Vihiga Mp Yusuf Chanzu wants Governor Moses Akaranga arrested for allegedly misappropriating more than 2 billion county funds.
Chanzu said the issuance of contracts was not properly done two years ago and the county has not yet issued payments.
”The contractors have approached me for advice over the delayed payments and I will be joining them in their plans to sue the County government,” said Chanzu on phone.
“If Akaranga cannot pay contractors for tenders awarded two years ago, where will he get the money he is promising to pay them yet the county is set to receive Sh4.5 billion this financial year?”
Chanzu said that the county government was under investigation by the senate for the funds it cannot account for.
Contractors on several of the county's projects have said that they have approached a lawyer who will take Akaranga to court.
“We want to sue the government so that we can protect our debts because we may not be paid if Akaranga loses the election next year,” said a collective statement.
Akaranga could not be reached as he is said to have left for France over the weekend.
Morever County head of communication Peter Athiaya said that the hitch over the delay of payment contracts has been solved and the process of payment had already began.
