Vihiga United have sounded a warning to their promotion rivals Ushuru FC ahead of their season-decider match Saturday afternoon at Mumias Sposts Complex.
Heading into the finale match at position 2, Vihiga assistant coach Francis Xavier has said his boys will take the match with the composure needed so as to bag the three points and finish the season at position one.
He urged his men to remain calm and concentrate on downing Ken Kenyatta's tax-men.
"For us this is just a normal league match, we have played 35 matches, won 23, drawn 8 and lost four so there is nothing really special that should get my players anxious," he said.
"We need to approach it as any normal league match. Ushuru is a good and experienced side and we need to prepare well for the match and do our best. The most important thing is to maintain our focus," he added.
The promotion battle is between leaders Ushuru, Vihiga and third-placed Wazito FC who trail Vihiga only on goal difference.
Should Vihiga and Wazito record wins today, Ushuru will have to wait for next year as the league is set to settle on a 2-only promotion criteria.
However, a loss for Vihiga and a win for Wazito will see the western men wait for another season.
Should Vihiga and Ushuru draw, Wazito only need a win to sail through alongside Ushuru.
A loss from Wazito will mean Vihiga and Ushuru proceed to the KPL next season without opposition.
