[Photo/Vihiga County News]Vihiga County referral hospital is set to get a complete facelift with the new hospital plaza starting January 2018.According to Deputy Governor Dr Patrick Saisi, a total of Sh100 million has been factored in the supplementary budget to have the facility uplifted to a teaching and referral hospital status.Speaking during the end of year awards ceremony for the hospital staff at the facility's grounds, Dr Saisi assured the hospital management of the County government's support to ensure that the people of Vihiga receive quality treatment from the facility and provide conducive environment for the same.That notwithstanding, the deputy governor assured the medical officers on internship that they will have an appreciation token on monthly basis in a bid to boost their morale in executing their duties."During our campaigns, we assured the people of Vihiga we'll prioritize health that was at a sorry state, and that's why out of the 4B from the exchequer, we've directed 1bln to health," said Dr. Saisi on Wednesday.The government has further allocated a significant amount towards the procurement of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computer Topography (CT) scan equipments to enable residents receive quality medical services at the facility.The referral medical superintendent Dr. Emmanuel Ayodi who has been pivotal in ensuring quality service delivery lauded the initiative by the government to provide a monthly appreciation to the clinical officers on internship for they are a useful lot to the facility.The deputy governor further assured the staff of continuous trainings to keep them up to date with the new technological advancement within their field of work and thanked Dr. Ayodi for being a visionary, result oriented and instrumental in ensuring that Vihiga county residents get access to quality treatment and him embracing and integrating ICT in administration.The medical superintendent took the opportunity to appreciate the team for having been cooperative throughout the year in ensuring quality service delivery to the people of Vihiga.
