Vihiga senator George Khaniri is mourning the death of his mother.
Mama Josephine Kageha Khaniri died, Saturday evening, while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi Hospital.
The senator received the sad news, while attending a voter registration rally at the Mbale Municipal grounds in Vihiga County.
Earlier, the senator had requested those who attended the meeting to pray for his mother who was in hospital.
“I request you to pray for my mother who is in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward at a Nairobi Hospital,” he said.
On receiving the heart breaking news, the leaders who attended the rally turned their focus to sending out condolences to the senator.
“As we go home, let us remember to pray for senator Khaniri and his family at this difficult moment. May his mother’s soul rest in peace,” said Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
Siaya senator James Orengo, Sabatia Member of Parliament Alfred Masadia and his Funyula counterpart Paul Otuoma were among those who sent their condolences.
