Vihiga United staged a spirited fight to edge out Nairobi City Stars 2-0 in their National Super League match staged at the Mumias Sports Complex on Wednesday.
The win saw them move to second-place.
Bernard Ochieng was the first to score in the first half before Vihiga captain captain Patrick Okullo sealed the win in the second half.
Now at position two, Vihiga only need to win their remaining two matches to be assured of promotion to the Kenya Premier League.
