Promotion hopefuls Vihiga United briefly surged to the top of the National Super League standings table after they beat Kibera All Stars 3-0 at Jericho’s Camp Toyoyo stadium yesterday morning.
Vihiga took the lead five minutes to the break as skipper Patrick Okullo headed in the rebound after Kibera’s keeper Paul Ochieng, failed to hold on to a free-kick from former AFC Leopards and Kenyan international Martin Imbambala.
Okullo then doubled his side’s lead just after the hour mark.
Ugandan Rashid Kyambade added the third and final goal to improve Edward Manoah’s boys' points tally to 17 from eight matches while Kibera, who got their first win last Friday, are still down in 16th place.
Vihiga county governor Moses Akaranga was among the guests at the match."Last year we did very well in our first season in the league. Now we have set a minimum target of getting promotion to the Premier League,” said Akaranga as quoted by the Star.
