Vihiga women representative Dorcas Kedogo was heckled before Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga.
Ms Kedogo who had accompanied Raila during a delegates meeting at Sosa in Vihiga, stood to talk to the delegates after she was given an opportunity to speak by Emuhaya MP Wilbur Otichilo.
But when he took to the podium she was heckled by the delegates forcing her to cut short her speech and only managed to speak amidst jeers from the crowd for a short time before she sat down.
“What I want to assure the party leader is that we are firmly in ODM,” she said.
Some of the locals who were there said the people were heckling Kedogo because she is a non-performer and not because of any other thing.
The leader had not indicated that she wanted to defect from ODM and therefore she was being booed following disgust of her performance.
Peter Wanjala, a resident of Vihiga said the women representative is rarely seen in the constituency where she represents, and that some people do not even know her.
“Since she was voted in, she has not been coming to initiate projects or even help women. The heckling is just because of the anger the electorate have against her,” said Wanjala.
