[Photo: Nyambura]Youths across the country have been called upon to vote in the August elections as campaigns get intense across the country.The Vijana na Uhuruto caravan was in Murang'a County on Saturday where youths were advised to abstain from alcohol and other stimulants on the eve of the elections to ensure they cast their votes.Led by youth leaders Wambui Nyutu and Zack Kinuthia, the team called on the residents to ensure they cast their vote as a group for President Uhuru Kenyatta and other leaders seeking elective seats."We are travelling across the country pushing for the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta because we believe as youths, he has the best agenda for our nation and we hope to do this till the last day of campaigns," Wambui said.Zack, a former student leader called on the people to break cultural barriers, given most societies and elect people of all ages and walks of life.Nyutu also lauded the fact that most women had shown interest in elective seats in this election period as opposed to other times."Most young women do not vote or engage in political activities but we are glad things changed for the better this time round regarding the country’s leadership."The group continues with the campaigns to South Rift and Kericho next week.
