Residents of Risa village in Nyamira County are yet to come to terms following brutal killing of one of their own in Garissa University College more than a week ago.
On Monday, several residents thronged into the home of Mr Zablon Onyinkwa, father to the deceased Susan Onyinkwa, who is understood to have been the first person from Risa village to ever get a direct entry to a public university.
Ms Onyinkwa will be laid to rest on Friday, days after her body was positively identified by family members without any scientific procedure.
“I am yet to concede that she is dead. She was a hardworking, industrious and God fearing lady and I believe we shall meet in heaven,” said Priscah Mokeira, a resident in the village.
“This is not only a tragedy to the Onyinkwa family but to entire members of the village. We have lost the only hope we had and it will be cumbersome for use top recover from this immense loss,” said Alex Oiko.
Area MP Timothy Bosire, through his personal assistant Kelvin Omiti, said he will pay part of the school fees to the remaining siblings of Mr Onyinkwa.
“We understand the status of the family besides the lose that has hit them. Our MP has promised to pay school fees to young children from this family who are undertaking their studies in different schools here,” Omiti said.
