Residents of Kimende village in Lari constituency have asked the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to contain leopards roaming in the area.
The residents claim that wild cats have been causing fear especially among school going children.
They said the wild cats have been feasting on their goats and sheep and that their complaints to KWS have not borne fruit.
Jeremiah Kiragu, a resident, said a leopard was spotted in the village on Sunday night, causing panic among residents.
He added that attempts to trap the animal have been futile as it often strikes early in the morning.
“We have complaint to KWS but nothing has so far been done,” he said, adding that they risk losing more livestock.
The complaints come as leopard was found knocked down at Lari trading centre along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway on Wednesday morning.
The leopard is said to have been knocked down by a speeding motorist. KWS officials took the carcass away as residents crowded to see it.
Area police boss David Chemwetich said that cases of wild animals straying into the area are on the rise.
He called on KWS to move with speed and contain the animals before they start killing people.
“We have experienced three cases of leopards straying into the area for the past four months,” he said.
The official asked residents to report when they spot wild animals straying instead of harming them.
