Wote village residents in Machakos have been urged to work with the police in fight against crime.
Speaking to the press at his office on Wednesday, area chief Dominick Matheka complained that crime has risen and that locals have to work with police to tame it. The chief said that locals have a role to play in security matters and that they should not fear the police.
“Members of the public should feel free and work with us as we strive to boost security,” said the chief.
While commenting on the recent incident where body of a middle age man was found dumped at a roadside, the chief said that no one has been arrested. He said that police are still searching for the criminals stating that they will not rest until the killers are found.
“We are still searching for the killers of the man. I can assure you that police are determined to nab the killers,” he said.
The chief stated that security will be beefed up ahead of the festive season noting that anyone found contravening the law will be dealt with accordingly.
Matheka asked locals to be on high alert and report any form of lawlessness to enable the police act immediately.
