This happened as it was heading to a private residence of one of the senior officials in Machakos county government, to drill a borehole for private use and individual benefit.

The residents blocked the road and chased away the driver of the truck and his colleagues claiming that the borehole drilling equipment should be used for public boreholes which benefit the public and individuals.

"There are boreholes which were set to be drilled in Kanzokea, Kialani, Kangundo high school and Kwa-Mangu village yet they have not been drilled and here is a truck paid for by the people's taxes heading to serve individual purpose. We shall not let such a vice take place in our watch," said the regions chief Mr Francis Musembi.

The regions Member of County Assembly Kilonzo Itumo who arrived at the scene criticized the county government official who had instructed drilling in his home.

"It is such a selfish act and as a fellow leader cannot allow it. When I was in Machakos last week I was told that this equipment would be drilling a borehole for the people in Kwa Mangu village and am shocked to find out what was about to happen and it's good the people have stopped that," said MCA Itumo.
