Police have launched an investigation in which a 60-year-old granny allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday night at Kerina village in Kisii South sub-county.
Confirming the incident which has left many in a shock, area chief Benson Mosumari said the body of the granny was found by her daughter-in-law dangling in her little house on Wednesday morning.
The chief added that the granny lived alone in the house as most f his sons are in Nairobi and the daughter-in-law used to sleep in a different house.
“We have already informed the police and they will arrive here so that we can know the real cause of the death. The granny was too old to have taken her life,” he added.
He said police are yet to establish the reason why the granny could have committed suicide adding that investigations have been launched.
He called the area residents not to leave the old alone as they may be distressed to an extent of taking their lives.
The body of the granny has been taken to Bosongo Mortuary.
