World Bank adviser Charles Mochama has said it will be difficult for the country to achieve its Vision 2030 if youths can’t be involved in various development projects.

Speaking on Wednesday in Nyamira town, Mochama accused Nyamira County government for not involving youths in county tenders and termed it as an obstacle for vision 2030 be achieved.

He noted that vision 2030 is for the young generation, and there is need for them to be involved in development projects to achieve this, further alleging that the county government employs old people, some of whom have retired instead of the young generation.

“Let us all join together to prepare how we can achieve vision 2030 in the country, but if the young generation can’t be involved, then it will be difficult for vision 2030 to be achieved,” noted Mochama.

“30 per cent of procurement should go to youths and other affirmative groups, let Nyamira County give tenders to youths in order to achieve the vision easily in the country," added Mochama.

Mochama is eyeing the Nyamira County gubernatorial seat come next year, and hopes to offseat incumbet John Nyagarama.
