Kisii University counselling department has urged students to regularly visit their office whenever they have mental problems.
Ms Rose Atieno who is the head of the counselling department said on Thursday in an interview that his office has taken a holistic approach towards the mental health of the students.
"We work with medical doctors who assess the mental health of victims and advice accordingly," said Otieno.
The mental problems they deal with include mood disorder, anxiety disorder, personality disorder, poverty and neglect.
Ms Atieno added that there are psychology programs that are offered from undergraduate to post graduate level that teach much about mental health.
She however noted that some of the students encounter stigma, thus avoid seeking medical service.
