Youths in Visoi Ward, Rongai sub-county have been asked to apply for development funds and help create job opportunities.
Addressing locals when he toured the ward on Friday, Governor Kinuthia Mbugua said that the government has invested in youths projects meant to create job opportunities.
He asked youths to seek development funds being offered by the government and start small business ventures, adding that by applying for the funds, they will be able to start businesses that will in the process create employment for others.
“Youths should take opportunity of the support being provided by both the national and the county government and apply for the funds,” said Mbugua.
Mbugua added that the county government is supplementing the policies being taken by the national government to fight unemployment.
He said that many youths have no job opportunities despite having qualifications, stating that there is need for the public and private sector to work together to address the problem.
Mbugua at the same time cautioned youths against taking part in unlawful activities saying that the law will deal with anyone found on the wrong.
He asked youths to utilise their free time and associate with people who will add value to their lives.
