Viwandani MCA Eunice Mureithi has asked the Nakuru government to involve youths in development.

Speaking to journalists at Viwandani estate on Tuesday, Mureithi said involving youths in development activities will help curb unemployment.

The MCA asserted that lack of jobs hasseen many young people take part in unlawful activities.

“Lack of jobs among the youths is a major problem that the county government needs to address. The government should ensure youths are involved in development,” said Mureithi.

Mureithi asked the Nakuru government to partner with private sector and help create job opportunities for the youths.

She stated that public-private partnership will help curb the rising unemployment in the county.

The Viwandani MCA promised to push for programmes that will see youth get job opportunities.

Speaking at the county offices on Monday, county deputy governor Joseph Ruto said the county has started programmes to empower youths.

He said that youths are being trained on how to start and manage small businesses which will help reduce unemployment.

Ruto urged youths across the county to apply for funds from the government which he said will largely reduce lack of job opportunities.
