William Chepkut has been declared the winner of Ainabkoi Member of Parliament (MP) race in Uasin Gishu.
Chepkut, a long time personal assistant to the late former powerful minister Nicholas Biwott, floored vocal MP Samuel Chepkonga.
According to official final results announced at Ainabkoi constituency tallying centre at Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) in Eldoret town, Chepkut garnered 23,216 votes to clinch the seat ahead of Chepkonga, who had 19,140 votes.
Raymond Cherono of KANU and Wycliffe Mosi, an independent candidate got a paltry 190 and 160 votes respectively.
It's worth noting that Chepkut at first beat Chepkonga during the Jubilee party primaries with less than 130 votes before a repeat of the nominations in Munyaka primary school led to Chepkonga clinching the Jubilee ticket with a difference of 99 votes.
Cheokonga has served as chairman of the National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee since 2013.
