President Uhuru Kenyatta' threat to impeach Raila Odinga should he win the Presidency during repeat presidential poll slated for October 17 has elicited mixed reactions with members of Raila's ODM party now daring the President to make good his threats.
Speaking during an interview on KTN, Ugunja Member of Parliament Opiyo Wandayi said that Uhuru's threat is a clear indicator that he has panicked and that Raila will win the next month's poll.
While asking Uhuru's Jubilee Party to be braced for a major showdown in Parliament during impeachment, Wandayi who is also ODM's Director of Political Affairs said that impeaching the President is not an easy process.
"You (Uhuru) are already thinking of a Raila win. But even for impeachment, there are grounds. You don't just wake up one day and think of impeaching the President," Wandayi said.
The lawmaker further said that for impeachment to succeed, the process has to be supported by at least two-thirds of the total number of members of Parliament, the numbers he says Jubilee dies not have.
"Parliament is a house of procedures, rules and records. For now, you may have some numbers, but not absolute majority. But remember we have filed cases in court and you'll lose some of those seats," he added.
