Speaking in a stakeholder’s forum convened by the Department of Education, County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Joseph Kurgat said that the County Government will focus more on empowering the youths through enrolment in the facilities.

He said that they were committed to getting out of their offices so as to sensitize the residents to take their children to the facilities that the government has invested heavily in equipping.

“The youth must be convinced to change their mindset about the institution of technical leaning,” said the CECM.

He said that the County Government will harmonize all fees structures to avoid discrepancies in the vocational training centers, adding that the government will give students joining the institutions' subsidy in form of a bursary.

Youth and Sports Chief Officer Eunice Kerich on her part said that the department is organizing a centralized exhibition to sensitize members of the public on the existence of the VTC and the courses offered.

She asked the Centre managers to organize individual trade fairs and exhibition to inform the public what they offer.

“We are in consultation with communication department with a view of branding these institutions,” said Kerich.

“We are committed as a County to filling the over 2000 vacancies in all our 11 facilities that offer the technical courses. I am challenging all of you administrators and Centre managers to get out and bring students” added the CO.
