While Raila is expected to address rallies in Wajir County, Uhuru will be in Marsabit where he will market his presidential candidature as he seeks a second term in office.

Raila will be visiting Wajir two days after Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto toured the county that voted for Cord in 2013.

There are 162, 902 registered voters in Wajir. The county is headed by Governor Ahmed Abdullahi (ODM).

Among the six constituencies in the county, only one MP, in 2013, was elected on Deputy President William Ruto’s URP party while the others were elected under ODM.

This led to Wajir being labeled an opposition stronghold for the last four years.

Three MPs who were elected on ODM tickets, however, have decamped to Jubilee. They include Adan Keynan (Eldas), Mohammed Elmi (Tarbaj) and over 20 MCAs.

Uhuru has visited the county twice this year drumming up support for his re-election.

The opposition accuses Jubilee of under developing North Eastern region besides failing to implement the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission report.

During their last visit to the county, NASA leaders called on residents to vote for Raila because he is better placed to implement the TJRC report.

In 2013, 49,712 residents of the county voted for Raila while 38,927 voted for Uhuru.
