A Nakuru Human Rights defender has said Independent candidates should be elected into office.
Speaking to this writer, Moses Gitonga from National Citizen Engagement Forum, NACEF said Kenyans should have the democratic rights to elect leaders based on their performance rather than political parties.
“Kenyans have changed and this was seen in the party primaries. We cannot elect leaders based on their political parties but rather we elect them based on their development agenda as well as their history,” he said.
Gitonga who contested the Morindat ward seat in Gilgil sub-county said will run as an independent.
“The president has been very clear that Kenyans know how to vote and they will vote in their choice. I personally will contest the Morindat seat as Independent candidate for I know the people have the last say,” Gitonga said.
