Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i fears losing his job should Abagusii community fail to support re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are due to conclude their two days tour to the vote rich Gusii region on Wednesday.

Perceived as an opposition stronghold, Matiang’i has been leading key Jubilee event in the region and has often been embroiled in war of words with top ODM leadership led by Timothy Bosire of Kitutu Masaba.

“You have an obligation to keep me on my job. If you fail to vote for Uhuru, I’ll be jobless,” said the outspoken CS during his Sunday’s tour at Sironga in Nyamira.

Matiangi, who has been spearheading key reforms in education sector added: “This is the only top seat we have in government and it’s upon you to protect it.”

And on Tuesday, Uhuru showered praises to the evergreen former ICT Cabinet Secretary adding that he is keen to ensure he gives political goodwill for fundamental changes in education sector.

Among his top achievements in government were spearheading successful digital migration and restoring sanity in education sector.
