A voter has filed a petition at the Eldoret High Court seeking nullification of Marakwet East Member of Parliament Bowen Kangongo's victory.

In the case filed on Wednesday, the voter Sammy Kemboi claims the election in the constituency was not free and fair and wants the court to order for a fresh election.

Speaking in Eldoret after filing the case, Kemboi cited violence that erupted in one of the polling station in the constituency leading to the death of a girl as one of the reasons as to why the election should be repeated.

"In my opinion there was manipulation of the results and this is why I decided to move to court so that justice can be done," said Kemboi.

Jubilee's Kangogo Bowen was declared the winner after garnering 14,859 votes ahead of Linah Jebii Kilimo, an independent candidate, who got 13,855 votes.

Kilimo had earlier rejected the results but up to now she has not filed a case challenging them.
