President Uhuru Kenyatta will garner 50 per cent of votes cast in the Nyanza region during the August polls, area MP has claimed.
Karachuonyo legislator James Rege, Nyanza head of Jubilee presidential campaign team, said Uhuru will give NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga a run for his money in the perceived Opposition's stronghold.
"We are targeting between 40 and 50 per cent in Nyanza region and it is possible," Rege told journalists on Friday.
The lawmaker made the remarks after a closed-door strategy meeting at Royal Swiss Hotel that was led by Jubilee National Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
Rege said they agreed to employ door-to-door campaign strategy to reach out to many voters, a move aimed at denying Raila monopoly of votes in his backyard.
"We met here to exchange information and strategies to ensure the re-election of our party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta for another five years," the MP said.
Tuju assured JP candidates of support to ensure they marshal votes for their party leader President Kenyatta.
"It can be done. We have the conviction that we can get votes in any part of the country including Nyanza and we are up to the task," the former Rarieda MP told the media after the meeting.
Tuju said the party will roll out massive campaigns in which they would use Jubilee administration's development record in the region to appeal to the voters.
