James Rege's days as Karachuonyo MP may be numbered after angry constituents urged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to declare the seat vacant and pave way for a by-election.
This comes barely a week after the renegade ODM legislator defected to the newly formed Jubilee Party for fear that the Raila Odinga-led ODM party may deny him a nomination certificate in 2017 and send him to political oblivion.
Speaking in Kendu Bay town on Tuesday, Karachuonyo ODM Chairman Teddy Ogolla said the two-time lawmaker has betrayed the party and the voters and that he is no longer fit to area MP.
Rege's trouble with the Orange party started in 2015 during the Homa Bay county senatorial by-election when he defied the party and publicly supported a rival candidate instead of ODM's Moses Kajwang'.
