In some of the centres like Munyaka Primary school in Ainabkoi constituency and GK Prisons primary school in Moiben constituency, voters had already lined up as early 5.30am.
Despite heavy downpours overnight, the voters have braved the chilly morning to go and exercise their constitutional right.
"Voting has begun, we opened at 6am and everything is in place," said Katiri Nyaga, Deputy Presiding officer at GK Prisons Primary schools.
"The IEBC seems to have planned themselves well as everything is going on smoothly," said Kennedy Juma, who cast his vote at GK Prisons Primary school.
Deputy President William Ruto is expected to cast his vote at Kosachei Primary School in Turbo constituency while Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago will vote at Kuinet Primary school in Soy Constituency.
Uasin Gishu gubernatorial candidate on an independent ticket Zedekiah Bundoth Popularly known as Buzeki is a register voter at Arapmoi Primary school in Ainabkoi constituency.
Uasin Gishu county with 868 polling centres has 450,055 registered voters spread across 30 wards and six constituencies.
Over 1,800 police officers have been deployed to provide security across the county.
