Christians in Kibera have strongly opposed a proposal by Jubilee MPs endorsing former AIC archbishop, Eliud Wabukala as chair of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries commission (IEBC).
Led by Gatundu South MP, Moses Kuria, the MPs said Wabukala is a role model and the church should be allowed to chair IEBC committee.
This comes after the former IEBC commissioners through the chair Isaac Hassan bowed to the pressure of stepping down.
''Wabukala is a respected man. However, he is not the right man to be IEBC chair. He served the church well but he has no knowledge of politics. Politics is not his thing,’' said Bramwell Mkenyi.
'‘The former archbishop has no right to be an IEBC chair. According to the constitution, the chair should at least serve the country at Supreme Court level. Wabukala has only served the country as an archbishop, this means the jubilee MPs want to breach the constitution,’’ said Hannah Barasa.
Another James Maina said God can choose any person who will lead the IEBC commissioner. Maina insists that Christians should fully support the idea and not point out on a Godly-sent man.
