Speaking at his home in Bungoma, Wabukala affirmed that he has what it takes to head the anti-corruption commission.

His sentiments come amid calls from various leaders including former Kanduyi MP Alfred Khang’ati to reject the new job arguing that it will taint his good reputation.

Bishop Wabukala said he understands that the new position has challenges but he is ready to deal with them once he is officially given the mandate to chair the Commission.

“I know there are challenges ahead but I am confident I am up to the task,” he said, as quoted by Nation.

Khang’ati, however, said Wabukala will be unfair to himself if he decides to pick up the job since he will face the same challenges his predecessors suffered before leaving the office.

“I know Bishop Wabukala as a gentleman. Once he takes up the job, he will be subjected to the same hostility that his predecessors faced,” he said.

The other candidates who expressed their interest in the job included William Kirwa, Rose Osoro, Philemon Mwaisaka, Peter Ondieki and Erastus Iguna.
