In a press briefing on Tuesday, Khangati said the position was likely to taint the reputation of the renowned clergy given that it is not empowered to prosecute corruption cases.

"I want to urge my brother to retire peacefully for the sake of his good reputation. He served the church for many years and I don't expect that he would take a political job that has seen the mighty fall down," he said.

He challenged parliament to enact a legislation that would allow the commission prosecute corruption cases in future if the country was serious with the fight against graft.

"EACC as constituted is toothless. Parliament should look for a way to enable it prosecute serious cases. That is when people like Wabukhala can make an impact," he added.
