Veteran Kenyan singer Wahu Kagwi has written a message to President Uhuru Kenyatta calling on the commander in chief to step up his efforts in the fight against corruption.
The award-winning artist said unless Kenya's fourth president stumps his authority and sacks government officials implicated and found guilty of graft, Kenyans may not take him seriously and the development may negatively affect his legacy when he officially vacates office in 2022.
Kenya is currently grappling with runaway graft that has gripped government departments including the National Youth Service (NYS) following the loss of over Sh9 billion.
"Dear Mr President Uhuru Kenyatta. Here is a notice from me to you. On my behalf, and on behalf of generations coming behind us, show some mercy," the musician who is married to fellow musician David Kamoni Mathenge a.k.a Nameless said in a tweet.
She said the country is bleeding because of high profile graft and the President has no option but to act as the country's head.
Her message come at a time high government officials including NYS director general Richard Ndubai, Youth Principal Secretary and twenty other are in remand awaiting for the hearing of the case in which they are accused of being part of the racket that led to the loss of Sh9 billion at NYS.
