Kalimoni MCA Joel Waichere has faulted residents in his ward saying they were the ones who foiled the budget public hearing meeting this morning in Juja town.
Speaking to the press after the police contained the irate protestors, Waichere said that the residents arrived late finding the meeting ongoing and instead of taking part in the discussion, they started complaining.
He added that such cases have been experienced before and that they have been following what his rivals say thus distracting several meetings in the sub-county.
“Last year we had the same problem here and these people know well that they should have arrived in time. You can arrive late and distract the meeting saying that you are being left out,” the MCA said.
Waichere has called on the county government of Kiambu and the police to probe on the incident and prosecute those involved in the inciting the residents to foil the event which was forced to stop for almost an hour before resuming.
The budget committee chair Mary Hussein has called on those who were not able to give their full views on the same in today’s meetings to ensure they write memoranda and send them to the county assembly chambers before Monday next week for their views to be considered.
