Kirinyaga gubernatorial hopeful, Anne Waiguru, has said that incumbent Governor Joseph Ndathi is to blame for the botched Jubilee nominations.
Waiguru claimed that Ndathi had collaborated with other officials overseeing the primaries to rig her out by stuffing ballot boxed with papers that had been marked before the exercise kicked off.
The aspirant insisted that she will not accept defeat if the exercise is not conducted in a free and fair manner as promised by Jubilee top brass.
“There is no way we were going to accept the nomination yet rigging was evidently taking place,” she said, as Citizen quoted her.
Waiguru said that nominations should reflect the will of the people, adding that rigging is a scheme to impose leaders on the residents, which is unacceptable.
“The nominations should be a representation of what the people of Kirinyaga want and rigging will only allow unwanted leaders to clinch the ticket,” she said.
Waiguru also said that losing the primaries does not make the end of the road, arguing that it will be an embarrassment to rig during nominations only to lose the seat to another candidate at the General polls.
“These nominations are not the end of the race because we have the elections on August 8. It would be disappointing for someone to unfairly get the party ticket and lose the elections,” she added.
Waiguru has been launching attack after attack against Ndathi for failing to keep pre-election promises yet he wants to retain the seat in August.
