Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru will now fly the Jubilee Party gubernatorial ticket after winning in the Kirinyaga primaries.
Waiguru garnered 100,632 votes against her rival, incumbent governor Joseph Gitari who garnered 46,678 votes, as incumbent governor Joseph Ndathi who got 17, 085 votes, Tuesday. She had raised concerns after the Jubilee party county Returning Officers took a long time to tally results from two constituencies.
''The officers have taken too much time giving us results for Gichugu and earlier on Mwea constituencies. We see this as a bid to reduce my votes to increase those of my competitors,'' Waiguru lamented.
Waiguru will now face Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua, as they both seek the county's top job.
However, Ndathi disputed the results, saying Waiguru's victory was a sham.
