Governor aspirant Anne Waiguru should be rejected by the people of Kirinyaga, a rival candidate has said.

The former Devolution CS, according to the incumbent Governor Joseph Ndathi, is an outsider who does not understand the vast county at the slopes of Mt, Kenya.

Ndathi mocked Waiguru's plan to build modern houses for residents, accusing the Jubilee candidate of duping voters in order to win support.

"How can she promise people that she will build them houses yet she doesn't even own a home in the county. Let Waiguru not hoodwink you. Where will she get the money? County resources cannot be for individual use," Ndathi said.

During her campaign rallies, Waiguru has been pledging to spur development to ensure residents don't continue living in mud houses.

But the Governor claimed the Jubilee candidate can't improve people livelihoods as she was only trying to rejuvenate her career after her 'disgraceful' Cabinet exit.

"It was only after her fall from the Devolution ministry that she came here to seek a political office. She was CS yet she did not even employ a single youth from this county," he added.

Ndathi is vying as an independent candidate after Waiguru trounced him in Jubilee Party Primaries held in April.

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua is also in the race to occupy the county's top seat.
