Former Devolution Cabinet Secretary Ann Waiguru floored Governor Joseph Ndathi in the race for Jubilee gubernatorial ticket.

Waiguru garnered 100,632 votes beating her rivals – Gitari Gachoki (46,678), Ndathi (17, 085) and Eliud Wanjau (5, 765).

Speaking shortly after being declared the winner in the nominations, Waiguru asked her competitors to accept the results and work with her to ensure Jubilee clinches the seat come August.

Waiguru will face Narc Kenya’s Martha Karua in the governor race on August 8 general election.

“I thank Kirinyaga County constituents for accepting my bid to be their next governor, God willing. I urge my worthy opponents, who I floored in the Jubilee party primaries, to concede defeat and support me in my bid to clinch Kirinyaga’s top political seat on August 8,” said the former CS on Wednesday.

She added, “Despite the outcome, I would tell my opponents that we are still agents of Jubilee Party.”

The gubernatorial results were disputed by Governor Ndathi, who said the former CS rigged the nominations.
